A Few Good Men

meets Wednesdays at the Salina Rescue Mission.  Several attempts to bring a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous to the Rescue Mission had been attempted over the years. After a period of time however they had failed to continue.

In the fall of 2023, Chris S. was contacted by a man at the Rescue Mission who told him that AA meetings were desperately needed. He enlisted the help of Dale N. to take meetings to the facility. After a period of time, in the summer of 2024, the meetings again went dark.

In the Fall of 2024, Dale N. enlisted the help of 2 new commers; Jason K. & Billy C. to restart those meetings from earlier in the year.  The men felt there was a need for AA at the Rescue Mission so another attempt was made.

 

The first meeting consisted of those 3 plus 1 man from the Rescue Mission. The next week again those three AA'ers and 2 men from the Mission. On the 3rd week another AA joined in and so did 2 others from the Mission making a total of 8. It was decided at that meeting that the meeting should be a regular meeting and not just an outreach. Several in attendance made a commitment to attend and an announcement flyer was created and circulated locally. A Few Good Men group considers this decision to be its founding. That was November 13th, 2024

On their 4th meeting 10 regular AA members and 8 men from the Rescue mission were in attendance.
